Burlington Electric Department (BED) is looking to fill a job opening for the position of Director of Generation, Engineering & Maintenance. This job offers up to one day per week of remote work and is responsible for the design, engineering, and maintenance of BED’s McNeil Generating Station and Gas Turbine; the design and engineering of BED’s Winooski One Hydroelectric, Airport Solar, and Pine Street Solar facilities; and providing high quality leadership, communication, and management for the generation engineering and maintenance area. Go Electric and Save – BED New and Expanded 2025 Rebates

Mayor Emma Mulvaney-Stanak and BED General Manager Darren Springer announced new and expanded Net Zero Energy electrification incentives for 2025 that will provide significant financial assistance to Burlingtonians and reduce fossil fuel usage. Rebates, with additional incentives for low-income customers, include:

  • EVs: while most EV rebates will continue at 2024 levels, BED has made enhancements, particularly to assist our low-income customers.
  • EV Chargers: BED offers EV charger rebates for workplace/retail, as well as multi-family affordable housing and income eligible.
  • Heat Pumps: BED continues to offer substantial rebates of up to 75 percent of the installed cost on ductless mini-split heat pumps.
  • Heat Pump Water Heaters: BED increased rebates for low-income customers.
  • Electric Bicycles: rebates doubled to as much as $600; enhanced rebate for low-income customers of as much as $850.
  • Electric Lawnmowers: enhanced rebates for residential push lawnmowers for low-income customers available for the first time.

In addition to the new and expanded rebates, other BED rebates will continue, including for high-mileage EV drivers, induction cooktops, electric snow blowers, electric chainsaws, electric forklifts, commercial electric lawnmowers, and electric motorcycles.
