New Rebate Programs for High-Mileage EV Drivers
Burlington Electric Department is offering new incentive programs for high-mileage BED customers who are ready to switch to an all-electric vehicle. These programs will support:
- Longer distance commuters
- Ride hailing service drivers (taxis, Uber, Lyft)
- Food delivery drivers
The following rebates can be used in addition to our existing EV rebates.
Superuser
BED’s Superuser program is available to customers who can demonstrate that they drive more than 17,700 miles annually. These incentives are on top of BED’s existing incentive, enhanced income eligible incentives, if applicable, and/or any other State, Federal or manufacturer’s incentive. Superuser customers will receive:
- an additional $250 rebate on a new or pre-owned all-electric vehicle.
- an additional $250 rebate on an eligible Level 2 EV charger, provided they also agree to enroll in BED’s EV rate tariff.
- EV charger incentives are capped at 75 percent of installed costs, including the cost of electric panel upgrades (if necessary).
- Income eligible customers will receive an additional $500 rebate on an eligible charger (total: $750) and are capped at 100 percent of installed costs.
Proof of eligibility will include self-certification of having travelled more than 17,700 miles during the most recent 12 month period in their personal internal combustion engine vehicle. Certification includes providing customer input at the time of online application relative to your daily commute, how many miles you drive annually for work and family and type of vehicle you have been driving until now.
Superuser Enhanced
BED’s Superuser Enhanced program is available to customers who can demonstrate that they drive more than 25,300 miles annually. Superuser Enhanced customers will receive:
- An additional $500 rebate on a new or pre-owned all-electric vehicle.
- Income eligible customers will receive an additional $1,000 rebate on their all-electric vehicle (total: $1,500).
- An additional $250 rebate on an eligible Level 2 EV charger, provided they also agree to enroll in BED’s EV rate tariff.
- EV charger incentives are capped at 75 percent of installed costs, including the cost of electric panel upgrades (if necessary).
- Income eligible customers will receive an additional $500 rebate on an eligible charger (total: $750) and are capped at 100 percent of installed costs.

BED’s Gig Drivers Program
BED’s Gig Drivers program is a new effort to assist ride hailing service and food delivery drivers living in Burlington to drive electric. Customers will need to certify that they have been enrolled in recognized ride hailing and/or food delivery program for at least the previous 12 months; and can self-certify that their annual mileage in their traditional vehicle has been more than 17,600 miles. BED incentives are limited to new and preowned all-electric vehicles.
BED Rebate can be combined with any other State, Federal or manufacturer’s incentives, if applicable.
BED’s EVSE incentives also apply, provided the customer participates in BED’s EV rate.
Rebate Amount
New All-Electric Vehicle Rebate Amount: $3,300 and $3,500 for income eligible residents.
Pre-Owned All-Electric Vehicle Rebate Amount: $2,600 and $3,000 for income eligible residents.
