Centrally Ducted Heat Pump

Rebate Amount

IMPORTANT: Centrally ducted heat pumps are classified as either Standard Performance Systems or High Performance Systems.

Standard Performance Systems Rebates

Your system must appear on the NEEP Qualified Product List to receive the above Standard Performance Systems rebate.

High Performance Systems Rebates

High Performance Systems perform better at lower temperatures displacing more fossil fuel usage.

To qualify for the High Performance Systems rebate:

1. Your contractor must set the cross-over temperature to 15F.
2. Your contractor must note the cross-over temperature on the quote or final invoice.
3. Your system must appear on the NEEP Qualified Product List using the following filters.
   • Ducting Configuration: “Singlezone Ducted, Centrally Ducted”
   • ENERGY STAR Certified: “ENERGY STAR V6.1 Cold Climate”
   • Eligible for Federal Tax Credit: “North”
     

** BED Bonus for Qualifying Customers

An additional $400 rebate per condenser is available for qualifying customers. Customers in households with a gross income less than the limits listed below are eligible for the enhanced rebate.

NOTE: At current utility rates, natural gas customers should be advised that heat pumps may likely not decrease annual heating costs but can reduce a home’s carbon footprint.

Have the following items ready:

• Your Burlington Electric Department account number. It is printed on your monthly bill.
• If your heat pump is being installed with a new furnace, BED needs to know the cost of just the heat pump installation. HVAC contractors should specify this line item separately in their invoice. 
• A scan or photo of your contractor’s invoice marked “Paid in Full.”
• If you are financing through VSECU, VFCU, or GMCU: a scan or photo quotes from your contractor.

Terms & Conditions

• This rebate form must be submitted within 60 days of installation.
• Total rebate amount (your contractor’s point-of-sale discount, the BED online rebate, and the BED Bonus for qualifying customers) is limited to 75% of installed cost. Installed cost includes the heat pump and HVAC and electrical labor costs.
• BED’s online rebate only applies to full central distribution systems (duct work that leads to all heated spaces in the home). Short ducted heat pump systems are not considered full central distribution systems. Ductless rebates (e.g. mini-splits) will apply to short ducted installs.
• This rebate is available to all BED residential and small business customers in existing buildings. For new construction projects, please contact BED for separate rebate offerings.
• Garages, auxiliary buildings, and other smaller spaces are not eligible without prior approval from BED. Rebates are designed to support heat pump installations that displace a significant percentage of the space heating load of a building and are installed in the main occupied spaces. 
• Limit 1 rebate per household or business. Households or businesses that receive a rebate for a centrally ducted system are not also eligible for a ductless (mini-split) rebate. 
• Equipment must be purchased through local participating qualified professionals and HVAC Distributors only. Customer sourced equipment is not eligible.
• Equipment must be on Qualified Product List (QPL). High-Performance Systems must set the cross-over temperature to 15°F maximum. Contractor must note cross-over temperature on quote or final invoice.
• Contractors are required to secure permits from Burlington’s Permitting and Inspections Dept.

Mini-Split Heat Pump

Rebate Amount: 

• $2,100: Single-zone or multi-zone ≤ 2 tons or 24,000Btu/hr (1 ton = 12,000Btu/hr.)
• $2,500: Multi-zone > 2 tons (1 ton = 12,000Btu/hr.)
• $500: Second mini-split heat pump system.
  • If you have already installed and received a rebate for a single- or multi-zone system in the past and are purchasing another heat pump system at your location, you must select the “Second System ($500)” option on this online form. 
• $400: Enhanced rebate for qualifying customers (first system only)
  • Customers in households with a gross income less than the limits listed below are eligible for the enhanced rebate.

This rebate is in addition to the $350-$450 BED rebate available to your contractor when they purchase the unit. This applies to both a first and second mini-split heat pump system. Level 2 & 3 Workplace EV Charger

Rebate Amount:

• Level 2: $2,500 per port, up to 75% of installed cost
  • Level 2 chargers installed in a Disadvantaged Community (DAC) according to the Justice 40 census map are eligible for a $3,250 rebate.
• Level 3: up to $15,000 per system, up to 75% of installed cost
  • Level 3 charger must be 50kW/200 amps or higher output.
  • Level 3 charger must connected to a 480v, 3-phase line.
  • Level 3 charger must be available to the public during typical non-business hours (e.g. nights, weekends).

Residential EV Charger

Rebate Amount:

• $900 when purchased with a new or pre-owned all-electric vehicle
• $700 when purchased with a new or pre-owned plug-in hybrid electric vehicle

Rebate will be processed after we receive an automated notification that your station is enrolled in our EV Rate.

After your new charger is installed and you have enrolled in the special Residential EV Rate you will save up to 45% on charging your EV.

• Savings apply only to EV charging costs.
• Charging must be done between 10pm and 12pm the following day.
• Savings will be applied as a 7.6¢/kwh credit on your bill.

Residential EV Charger – Multi-Family

Rebate Amount:

• $1,200: Qualifying EVmatch chargers
  • $300: Additional rebate for qualifying EVmatch chargers made available to the public from 9am to 5pm during the week.
  • $250: Enhanced rebate for qualifying customers*
• $1,000: Non-EVmatch Level 2 chargers (over 30 amps)
  • $250: Enhanced rebate for qualifying customers*

* To qualify for the additional $250 rebate, more than 15% of the units your EV charger serves must have a gross income less than the limits listed on the following Documentation page.

Rebate will be processed upon satisfying all Terms & Conditions, providing a receipt of payment and installation of an eligible EV charger, and, applicable to the Smart Charging option, verification that the charger is connected to EVmatch’s (or other applicable provider’s) network.

• EV Chargers must be installed by a licensed electrician and the owner/contractor/electrician is responsible for all applicable permits.
• Installation must occur within the municipal boundaries of the City of Burlington.
• Dedicated parking spots should be available for each EV charger port.
• Adequate signage to locate the charger is required for the Smart Charging option.
• By accepting this incentive, the recipient agrees to maintain the installed EV charger for a period of 3 years in a manner that will ensure the intended access to this equipment. This should include maintaining the charger’s functionality and, for Smart/Public Charging, a consistent WiFi or cellular connection.
• The applicant is solely responsible for the design, implementation, and installation of the EV charger (the “Project”) and for ensuring that the EV charger installation (including equipment purchased, work performed, required permits, and material disposal, if any) complies with applicable federal, state and local safety, building, electrical, and environmental laws, codes, regulations and standards and any manufacturer instructions. Recipient assumes full financial responsibility if the Project does not meet the qualifications specified in this Agreement. If future conditions require removal and decommissioning of the EV charger, such removal and decommissioning will be at the expense and risk of the recipient.
• Eligible rebates will be provided upon BED receiving a receipt of payment for the purchase and installation of the EVSE.
• Burlington Electric Department limits rebates to 75% of installed cost.

Terms & Conditions applicable for additional $300 public smart charging rebate

• Recipients receiving the Public EVSE Adder must make their charger available to the public from at least 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday.
• Eligible rebates for Smart Charging will be provided upon verification that the charger is connected to EVmatch’s (or other applicable provider’s) network in addition to receipt of payment for the purchase and installation of the EVSE.
• A contract must be completed with the EV software provider approved by BED.
• The price of charging will not exceed $0.30 / kWh or $3.40 per hour.
• BED reserves the right to promote public chargers that have been installed via this incentive program to the public.

Induction Cooktop

Rebate Amount: up to $200

Terms & Conditions

• Both standalone cooktops and ranges with built-in induction cooktops are eligible.
• Rebate is only available for installations in new homes and for replacement of existing natural gas or propane fueled ranges or cooktops.
• Induction cooktop must include no less than three elements.
• Cooktop or Range must be at least 24″ in both length and width.
